Imagine what we would accomplish if we work together! Click on the link below to hear John Germ's vision about joining forces between Rotary and the American Legion.
John Germ, current president of Rotary International, AF vet, and 25 year member of American Legion Post 14 in Chattanooga gives his thoughts on why American Legion and Rotary work so well together in helping communities. John states "I want my community to be a stronger, better community, and I can do it working with the Legion in various programs to make it happen."
ShelterBox. What is it? That's what John from the Rotary Club of Hutto asked while Ambassadors were set up at a booth at the District 5870 Conference of Clubs. I was privileged to give a Shelter Box USA presentation to their club today. Every person educated, every dollar collected, every box given--that's one more family given shelter, hope and dignity. Please let Chelsea or Jim M. know if anyone needs an Ambassador to answer questions or give a presentation. This is Rotary branching out to Service Humanity.
What an amazing visit with our DG Melinda Osborn, incoming DG Bruce Golden, and our AG John Barber! Such a wealth of information. Don't pforget to hashtag your club posts to share with the District. Hashtags allow other clubs to see what we do and bring in more people that believe in Service Above Self. Our District hashtag is #1districtstrong
Any social media posts that have #1districtstrong will show up for most of Texas, and as Rotary gains momentum. It goes National and then Global! Our club has a new member percentage of 17% this year. We are not even half way through the year. Keep up the good work! The more amazing members we have, the more good we can do in our community and throughout the world. Thank you for all you do!

What does the best Rotary Club do after a long few months of Golf Tournament Planning? Why, make 20 gallons of chili, of course!
Special thanks to Rob House and Kenneth Kidd, as well as all who made chili, volunteered at the booth, and generally had a grand time! Pflugerville Rotarians were also involved in our big, little town's Chili Pfest as organizers, Volunteers, and even Celebrity Judges! Rotary continues to "do good" in our Community. Although Chili Pfest isn't a Pfundraiser, it is important for us to be out in the Community showing all just how much Pfun being a Pflugerville Rotarian is. Good job All!
Our 14th Annual Golf Tournament was a success because of you! Yes YOU. Every Rotarian who was there. Friends of Rotarians volunteering. Players. Sponsors. Steve Gore for Photography. We can't do it without each and every one of you. Thank you for helping us raise more than $30,000 to go towards our Scholarships and other charities. It really is a blessing to spend a day in the sun with so many Pfriends for a good cause. Numbers and album coming soon!
Upcoming International Speaker scheduled for September 17th at the noon meeting.Earl Follis of the Round Rock Sunrise Rotary Club has brought us the opportunity to host James Manyror, one of the Lost Boys of Sudan (who've been profiled several times on 60 Minutes, New York Times, and a few films). We will be extending an invitation to all local media as well. James moved from Sudan to Denver in the '90s before returning to Sudan in 2005 to start an orphanage for other lost boys. He is flying in from Denver to speak to a select few clubs in the area. All members and friends of Rotary are invited. Special thanks to Earl for thinking of Pflugerville! Here is his non-profit's website with more info: http://www.saoro06.org/ and here is background info on the Lost Boys of Sudan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Boys_of_Sudan .
